オススメ漫画第二弾は、『ヲタクに恋は難しい』。笑える漫画、ロマンス漫画が好きな人にオススメです。いや、そういうのが苦手って人でも楽しめると思います！
For our second recommendation we have a manga for those who prefer funny, slice of life romance stories. And even if you don’t, I’m sure you’d love this one!

 

Plot(あらすじ)

密かに漫画を愛する腐女子桃瀬成海(26)は、最近転職したばかり。職場では若くて綺麗な完璧女子で押し通すつもりでいる。ところが、中学の同級生、イケメンで重度のゲームオタクの二藤宏嵩と転職先でまさかの再開。成海の秘密を知る二藤の出現によって、彼女の計画はもろくも崩れ去る。仕事のストレス、お酒、ラーメンなどを通し再び心を通わせはじめた二人だったが、ヲタクにとって恋愛は難しいという事実に気付くのだった。
26-year-old Momose Narumi is a secret die-hard manga fangirl who recently switched jobs in hopes of being able to pass off the image of a perfect, beautiful young lady. However, her hopes are crushed when she reunites with her middle school classmate Nifuji Hirotaka, a handsome avid gamer nerd that knows about her secret. As they begin to reconnect over work stress, alcohol, and ramen they come to find out that love is difficult for otaku.

 

Review(感想)
『ヲタ恋』は主人公の二人、成海と宏嵩だけではなく、脇役の太郎と花子もみんな重度のヲタク。そんなヲタクが繰り広げるラブコメです。この漫画の何がいいって、非常にリアリティがあり、かつ健全であることです。ラブコメにありがちな、嘘くさいドラマチックな展開、不必要な三角関係、話せば一瞬で解決できるだろっていうすれ違いなどがありません。無駄のないロマンスと、気軽に笑えるユーモアに彩られたこの作品は、嫌なことがあった後、気分を上げるのにピッタリです。
Wotakoi is a romance comedy which the main characters are huge otaku, Hirotaka and Narumi, along with supporting characters Taro and Hanako who are also otaku. The thing I loved the most about this manga was how realistic yet wholesome it was. It doesn’t have the forced drama, the unnecessary love triangle or the frustrating misunderstandings that could have been solved with talking that most romance comedies have. With such a light hearted comedy and pure romance its the perfect manga to lighten your mood after a bad day.

ワシントン州にあるチューリップ畑

About 2 hours out from Seattle is the most beautiful tulip field you’ll ever see! With tulips of all colors they also have some separate gardens where they arrange the tulips to make a picture.
I remember visiting the gardens with my exchange student, we spent around 3 hours slowly walking through the many gardens and fields, taking a ton of photos, and resting at their cafe.
The weather was absolutely perfect too!

シアトルから約2時間で、見たことないような美しいチューリップ畑に行けちゃいます！いろんな色のチューリップが見られて、写真撮影用にフラワーアレンジしてくれる庭なども別にあります。私はホストシスターと一緒にここを訪れて、3時間程かけてゆっくり畑や庭を見て回り、たくさん写真を撮って、カフェで休憩したのを覚えています。
天気も最高でした！

本日は、ハリウッドで活躍するメキシコ出身の監督、ギレルモ・デル・トロの作品からご紹介いたします！日本のアニメ、漫画、特撮が大好き事でも知られるデル・トロ監督。最近だと数年前に『シェイプ・オブ・ウォーター』がアカデミー賞作品賞を受賞しましたね。ご紹介するのは、私が彼の作品の中で一番好きな『パンズ・ラビリンス』。可愛らしい女の子が主人公のファンタジーなんですけど、実はめちゃくちゃ重たいダークファンタジーです。スペイン内戦の中、過酷な生活を送る少女が、実は自分がおとぎの国での王女であることを知り…というお話で、これがまあとにかく不気味で残酷で美しくて。「これぞファンタジー映画！」と言った感じです、いや本当に。大好きです。

過去形＝現在、未来の話(可能性低)
例: Even if they invited me, I wouldn’t go to that stupid party.

過去完了＝過去の話(過去の事実に反する話)
例: Even if they had invited me, I wouldn’t have gone to that stupid party.
(仮に招待されてたとしても、あんなくだらないパーティには行ってなかったよ)

〜にもかかわらず
“even if”と混同されやすいですが、こちらは「仮の話」ではなく、「事実」を言っているので注意しましょう。

「パタゴニア」と聞くと、あの有名なアメリカのアウトドアブランドを思い浮かべる人が多いのではないかと思います。パタゴニア地方はチリとアルゼンチンの南部にまたがり、南米大陸最南端までを覆う広大なエリアで、山や氷河など美しい自然に溢れています。中でも私のお気に入りは、アルゼンチン側のエルチャルテンという小さな街。この辺りに日帰りで楽しめるトレイルがたくさんあるんですが、バスやツアーを予約しなくても、街からから徒歩でトレイルの入口まで行けちゃうんです！しかもこのエリアは入場料もなし！つまり無料で登山がし放題なのです。私は一週間ほどここに滞在し、毎日日帰りハイクに出かけていました。
ところでみなさん、写真はフィッツロイという山なのですが、このギザギザ見覚えありませんか？これが、あのブランド「パタゴニア」のロゴになってるギザギザの山なんですよ～。

I’m guessing lots of people think of the famous American outdoor brand when they hear the name “Patagonia.” You might know it as the name of a place, but Patagonia is actually not a mountain or city. It’s the huge region encompassing the southern tip of South America, including parts of both Chile and Argentina. It’s known for its beautiful landscapes, such as dramatic mountain peaks and glaciers. My favorite place there is a small town called El Chalten. It has a number of trails which are great for day hikes. You don’t need to book any transportation or tours to get to the trails, because you can just walk there from the town. And fortunately, you don’t have to pay any entrance fees! So basically, you can enjoy hiking for free in this area! I stayed here for about a week and went hiking every day.
By the way, are you familiar with this jagged mountain in the picture? This mountain, called Fitz Roy, is the mountain used in the Patagonia brand logo.

本日は、みんな大好き『スタンド・バイ・ミー』の有名な台詞をご紹介いたします！もう30年以上も前の作品ですが、ホントにいつ見ても色褪せない名作ですよね！非常にシンプルな少年たちの冒険物語なんですけど、実はそのうちの一人が大人になってから回想している設定で。だからあの１２歳の夏に大切だったことと、そして成長とともに変わっていくことと(必ずしも悪い意味ではなく)、その対比がね、いいんですよね。見る者の“あの頃”の記憶を刺激して、ノスタルジックな気分にさせてくれる作品です。

ワシントン州シアトルにある、有名なレストラン “シュガー・ファクトリー”。紫/青/赤のハンバーガーなど、全ての料理や飲み物が、すごくユニークでカラフルなデザインになっています！日本に来る前に友人がここで私の送別会を開いてくれて、アヒルのカクテルと、トゥウィンキー・ガムボール・チョコレートシェイクを頼みました！

A popular restaurant in Seattle, WA is Sugar Factory. All of their dishes have such vibrant and fun designs, purple/blue/red hamburgers, smoking cocktails, and so much more! I went here with friends for my going away party before I moved to Japan. I ordered the rubber ducky cocktail (you can keep the duck) and twinkie/gumball chocolate shake.

メキシコ、トゥルム Ruins at the beach!

カンクンは多くの旅行者にとって、憧れですよね。メキシコ南西部、ユカタン半島の端に位置するこの街は１年中気候に恵まれており、白い砂浜とターコイズブルーの海は言うまでもなく美しいです。ただし！非常に観光客の多い、パーティータウンだと言う事もお忘れなく！あと、メキシコの基準で考えると全てが高いです…😅パーティーとか好きって人はすごく楽しめると思うんですが、もっとディープなメキシコを楽しみたい方や、単純に予算が限られてるって方にはあまりオススメできません。
カンクンから車で2時間ほどのトゥルムという街も、まぁ似たようなものではあるんですが、カンクンほど混んでなく、また見どころもたくさんあります。一番のオススメはセノーテですね。陥没穴に地下水が溜まってできた天然の泉で、このエリアに無数にあります。ちょっと泳ぎに出かけるのもいいですし、もしスクーバのライセンスがあるって人は洞窟ダイビングが楽しめる場所もあります。私は実際やったんですが、もう最高でした！水が透明すぎて、洞窟の中を飛んでるような感覚に陥ります。
他にも、遺跡などの見どころもあります。もし、トゥルム遺跡(古代マヤ遺跡)に行く時は、水着をお忘れなく！遺跡からちょっと階段を降りれば、すぐそこにカリビアンブルーのビーチも待ってます！

I know that for many travelers Cancun is the dream destination. It’s located in southeastern Mexico, on the edge of the Yucatan Peninsula. The weather is great all year around and the white sandy beaches with turquoise water are undoubtedly beautiful. But remember, it’s a really touristy party place, and expensive too (compared to the other parts of Mexico)😅 Well, if you are a party person, you’ll have a lot of fun. But if you are seeking some kind of authentic experience in Mexico or just simply on a budget, you might want to consider going somewhere else.
Tulum, the city that is a two-hour drive away from Cancun is kind of the same, but less busy and has more things to see. The most refreshing thing to do here is to take a dip in an under water sinkhole, called “cenote”. There are dozens of cenotes in the area and if you are a scuba diver, you can also do a cavern dive at some of them. I did it and it was amazing! Since the water is incredibly clear, you feel like you’re flying in the cave.
There is also an archeological site you might want to check out. If you visit the Tulum ruins (the ancient Mayan ruins), don’t forget to bring your swimsuit! The beautiful Caribbean beach is also waiting for you, just a few steps down from the site.

whether自体に「～かどうか」という意味がありますが、“or not”を入れて強調することもできます。また、“or not”は文末に持ってくることも可能性です。
例： I still haven’t decided whether I’m going to take this job offer.
例： I still haven’t decided whether or not I’m going to take this job offer.
例： I still haven’t decided whether I’m going to take this job offer or not.
(まだ、自分の車を売るかどうか決めていない)

上の例文は「～かどうかという事」という名詞節になっていますが、“whether or not”は、下の例文のように副詞節として使うと、「～かどうかに関わらず」という意味になります。
例： Whether or not he likes it, he has to do it.
例： Whether he likes it or not, he has to do it.
(好きかどうかに関わらず、彼はそれをやらなくてはいけない)

イスファハーンはイランの主要都市のひとつで、かつて「世界の半分」と呼ばれたほどに栄えました。街は、モスクや、バザー、橋など、サファヴィー朝時代の美しい建物で溢れております。
イマーム広場は、世界でも最も大きい広場のひとつで、モスクやバザー、宮殿などに囲まれています。昼間は気温が高すぎることもあり(40℃超えたりします)、とても静かですが、夜になると地元の人で溢れかえります！みんな自分たちで食べ物とお茶を持ち込んで、家族や友達と楽しいひと時を過ごしにやってくるんです。
イランに行ったら絶対に見逃せないスポットのひとつです！

Isfahan is a major city in central Iran, which once flourished and was called “Isfahan Nesf-e-Jahaan,” which literally means “Isfahan is half the world”. The city is full of beautiful architectural buildings, such as mosques, bazaars, and bridges, dating back to the Safavid dynasty.
Naghsh-e Jahan Square is one of the largest squares in the world, surrounded by two mosques, a bazaar, and a palace. It’s very quiet during the day since the temperature sometimes goes over 40℃. But then at night, it gets really busy because of all the local people who come out with their own food and tea to spend quality time with their friends and families.
It’s truly a must-see spot if you ever visit Iran!

本日は、ゾンビ映画『ショーン・オブ・ザ・デッド』からご紹介いたします！ゾンビ映画の金字塔『ドーン・オブ・ザ・デッド』(ゾンビ映画というジャンルを確立作品。監督：ジョージ・A・ロメロ)をパロディにした傑作コメディです。シチュエーションコメディなどを手掛けていたエドガー・ライトが、俳優のサイモン・ペグと組んで制作した初監督作品です。とにかくふざけまっくっているんですが、ちゃんとゾンビ映画として成立しているのがこの映画のすごいところ！元ネタへもしっかり敬意が払われていて、ほんとに監督はゾンビ映画が好きなんだなあというのが伝わってきます。ゾンビ映画はあんまり…という方でも楽しめると思うので、ぜひ見てください！
台詞は、主人公のショーンが、ゾンビから逃れる中でリーダーシップを発揮しようとするも、ロクな案もなく、ピーナッツを食べながら放ったひと言。
