今回はペット月間という事で、ウェスアンダーソンのストップモーションアニメ、『犬が島』からご紹介いたします！ 島流しにあった飼い犬を探しに、ゴミ島へやってきた少年が、他の野良犬達と繰り広げる冒険活劇！舞台は日本で、主人公の少年も日本人なのですが、面白いのは、犬たちが喋る言語は英語のため、お互いの言っていることがわからりません。そうやって、人間と犬のミスコミュニケーションを表現しているのですが、主人公の男の子が喋る日本語には字幕がつかないので(海外で上映の際も)、日本語がわからない人は、実際に犬目線でこれを体感することになります。私はブラジルでこの映画を観たんですが、英語の台詞にはポルトガル語の字幕がついていたけど、日本語には何もついていませんでした。
日本のカルチャー、映画、有名人などへのオマージュもたくさん出てきて、楽しめると思います！
台詞は、いつも飢えてる犬たちが、他のグループとの決闘(七人の侍風)の末、やっと手に入れた食べ物(でもほぼ腐ってる)を食べ漁ってる時の一言。

動詞：～に耐える、～を消化する/名詞：胃、お腹
Stomachという単語は、みなさんの多くも胃やお腹という意味でご存じかと思いますが、実は動詞でも使われます。動詞の場合、～に耐える、～を我慢するという意味と、～を食べる、～を消化するという二つの意味がありますが、上の台詞はどちらの意味も掛かっていますね。
例：I can’t stomach his bragging.
(彼の自慢話には耐えられない)

本日は、MCUシリーズの中でも、名作との呼び声が高い『インフィニティ・ウォー』からご紹介いたします！当時バックパッキング中だった私は、ブエノスアイレスの映画館で鑑賞しましたが、あの衝撃のラストに、満員の劇場が騒然となったのを覚えています。MCUシリーズは現在23作品もあるし、全ての作品が映画として素晴らしいかと言われるとそうでもないし、、スーパーヒーローとかあんまり…っていう方には、中々手を出しづらいシリーズではあるんですが、見出すとハマると思います。全作品見ているからこその感動、面白さってのが散りばめられており、それがこのシリーズ最大の魅力です。
セリフはガーディアンズ・オブ・ギャラクシーのメンバーが初めてソーに出会うシーン(めっちゃ面白い)より。

～だと思う(推測)
～だと思うの言い方はたくさんありますが、assumeはその中でも推測のニュアンスが強く、仮説を立てる時などによく使われます。また、思ってたけど違った時など、後ろにbutなどの否定の文を取ることが多いです。
例：Mark assumed there was going to be a meeting this Wednesday, but there wasn’t.
(マークは今週ミーティングがあると思ってたが、実際はなかった)

believe(強い確信)/think(いわゆる思う。迷ったらこれ使えばOK)/
suppose(多少根拠のある推測、期待の意味も)/guess(なんとなくそう思う)、等々

洞察力がある、知覚が鋭い

(彼女はテレビ番組の中で、社会に対する非常に鋭いコメントを発信した)

Last year, my wife and I went to an interesting museum in Ito, Izu. It was a music box museum. A lot of these music boxes came from Europe, but some were made in Japan. Some used cylindrical rolls, others used discs or punched paper to play the music. Some of the more complex music boxes had drums, accordions, horns and violins playing with dolls.
