セリフは、紳士的な掃除屋ウルフが、若い女の子に人間の品格について説いている会話の中から。

(個性的ってのと、品格があるかどうかってのは別の話だ)
character
登場人物、変り者、個性的な人(可算名詞)/性格、品性、品格、人格(不可算名詞)
上のセリフは、日本語に訳してしまうと意図がわかりづらくなるのですが、「character」という単語には、様々な意味があり、意味によって、可算名詞になったり、不可算名詞になったりします。これを利用した、非常に気の利いたセリフです。
可算名詞の方には、映画などのキャラクターという意味の他に、変り者という意味があります。
例：He is a character.
(彼はちょっと変わっている)
一方で不可算名詞の方には、性格などの意味に加え、品格という意味があります。
例：A man of character
(人格者)
Just because…doesn’t mean～
…だからって、～とは限らない
例：Just because you live in the US doesn’t mean you speak good English.
(アメリカに住んでるからといって、必ずしも英語が上手とは限らない)
例：Just because he went to a good university doesn’t mean he is better than us.
(いい大学に行ったというだけで、彼が私たちより優れてるとは限らない)

Animals in nature
I’m from Arkansas in the U.S. There are a lot of wild animals, and sometimes I miss being close to nature. So, when I see animals in Japan, I usually take a picture. There’s a small river near my apartment, and in the morning there are usually koi swimming around. It makes me want to go fishing. The other day I was at Magomezawa station and I saw some baby birds in a nest. Their mom was flying back and forth bringing them food. Unfortunately, I couldn’t get a picture because she was too fast! In a few weeks I’m planning to go hiking somewhere on the Chiba peninsula, so I hope I can get some pictures of some other animals.

Cassette Shop
Last year, I went to a music shop that only sells cassettes and vinyl in Nakameguro. There were also a lot of cassette players and Walkmans. A lot of people really like the old technology. But I’m not a fan. My friend says that you can carry a Walkman around like a memory. You can’t really do that with a record player. I like the crackles that records create. But I’m not a fan of tape hiss. I seem to carry that memory every time I think of cassettes.

THEY/IT SAID :〜だと言われていた。と言う意味。例文1だと前文で、昨日の夜、犬についてのテレビ番組を見ていたら、ブルドッグをペットとして飼うのは簡単だって言っていた。 例文2では前文で沖縄の本について言ってますね！ そのため、It said that 〜は、〜と書いてありました。とゆう意味になります。 前のセンテンスで何について言っているかで訳し方は変わりますがニュアンスは同じになります。
