二年前に、妻と一緒に静岡の下田に2泊しました。私たちは、ちょっと変わった5階建ての博物館に行ったのですが、それは高山から移動されてきた古い家でした。着いたらまずベルを鳴らします。雰囲気はまるでジブリ映画のようです。オーナーはすごくフレンドリーで、囲炉に私たちを案内し、ほうじ茶を振る舞ってくれました。そのあとは好きに見学していいよと言われ、自分たちで中を見て回りました。忘れられない旅の思い出です。
Two years ago, my wife and I went to Shimoda in Shizuoka. We stayed there for 2 nights. When we were there, we went to a strange but interesting 5 storey museum. It was a house that was moved from Takayama. When you get there, you ring a bell. It seemed like something from a Ghibli movie. The owner of the museum is very friendly. He greeted us and led us to a traditional Japanese fireplace. We sat around it and he gave us hot hojicha. We were able to explore the museum by ourselves. It was a memorable part of the trip.

本日ご紹介するのは、アカデミー賞作品賞にも輝いた『ハート・ロッカー』。イラク戦争における、アメリカ軍の危険物処理班を描いた物語です。それまでの作品が興業的に失敗したこともあり、監督のキャスリン・ビグローは本作品を低予算(とは言っても10憶円は超えてますが…)で制作しましたが、批評家から高い評価を得ます。元夫であるジェームズ・キャメロンの『アバター』とアカデミー賞作品賞を争い、勝ったことも話題となりました！ちなみに女性として史上初の監督賞も受賞！その後も『ゼロ・ダーク・サーティ』や『デトロイト』などの重厚な作品を撮り続けています。
何かに憑りつかれたかのように、何度も戦場へと戻っていく主人公ジェームズ。束の間の家族と過ごす時間に、まだ言葉も話せない幼い子供に語りかけた言葉は何とも切ないものでした。

～すればするほど…だ
二つの文を並べ～するほど(文A)～だ(文B)という時、それぞれの文の冒頭に、「the+比較級」を持ってきます。Theの後にくるのは「副詞」「形容詞」「形容詞+名詞」のパターンがあります。
例：The more I know him, the more I like him.
(知れば知るほど彼のことを好きになる）
例：The more languages you know, the wider your world gets.
(知ってる言語が多ければ多いほど、世界は広がる)

15分で簡単ケサディーヤ!
Easy Meat Quesadilla!
Cheesy with lots of flavor! This recipe is perfect for those nights you just want to relax and make something quick. In this recipe I’m just going to share what I usually put in my quesadillas but you can put almost anything in these, so feel free to try out other ingredients, and don’t forget to share with us how it goes!

Time: 15min(15分)
Serving: 1 – 2 people(1-2人用)
Ingredients:
-Meat of your choice <I recommend chicken or beef!> (お好きなお肉<オススメはチキンかビーフ！>)
-Garlic powder(ガーリックパウダー)
-Green bell pepper(ピーマン)
-Green onion(青ネギ)
-Tomatoes(トマト)
-Soft tortillas(ソフトトルティーヤ)
-Mixed shredded cheese(ミックスチーズ)
Directions:
Cut up your tomato, green onion, bell pepper, and chosen meat into small pieces and saute together in a pan. Add a little bit of garlic powder. Once everything has been full cooked sprinkle some cheese on top of your ingredients, no need to mix it! (I personally LOVE cheese and usually use a lot of it). It only takes a few minutes for the cheese to melt, when it does take our spatula and nicely lay the ingredients on your tortilla. After, take one more slice of tortilla and place it on top, like a sandwich. Cut into slices and enjoy!
トマト、青ネギ、ピーマン、お好きなお肉を小さくカットし、一緒にフライパンで軽く炒めます！ガーリックパウダーを少し加えます。全ての具材に火が通ったら、上からチーズをまぶします(個人的にチーズが大好きなので、たっぷり入れます)。混ぜる必要はないです！すぐにチーズが溶けだすので、そうしたら全ての具材をヘラを使ってトルティーヤに載せます。上にもう一枚トルティーヤを重ねて、サンドウィッチのようにします。食べやすいサイズにカットしたら、完成です！

～を恐れる
“be afraid～”には色々な使い方ができますが、”be afraid OF～”で「～が怖い」という意味になります。OFの後には名詞や動名詞がきます。
例：I’m afraid of heights.
（私は高所恐怖症です。）
例：Japanese people tend to be afraid of making mistakes, when they speak English.
（日本人は英語を話す時、間違いを恐れがちだ。）
not even～
(動詞)～すらしない/(名詞や形容詞)～ですらない/(名詞)～すら
強調の副詞”even”も色々な使い方がありますが、今回は”not even”で否定を強調する時の色んなパターンを見てみましょう。evenの後にはセリフのように動詞が来たり、名詞や形容詞が来る場合もあります。
例：I need a couple more minutes. I haven’t even looked at the menu.
(もう少し待ってください。まだメニュー見てすらないので。)
例：I’m not even sorry！
(私は悪いとすら思ってないよ！)
例：No one can stop him, not even me.

美味しいパンプディングの作り方
東京でパンプディングを売る店が少ないので自分で作りました！✨ allrecipesというサイトのレシピを参考に、材料を少し変えてみました。下記のレシピを作ってみませんか？美味しかったかどうか教えてください！
I’ve really missed bread pudding, so I finally decided to make some yesterday. I adapted this recipe from something I found on allrecipes. Give it a try and let me know what you think!!
1 old baguette (固めのフランスパン)
30 g butter (バター)
4 eggs (卵)
400 ml milk (牛乳)
150 g brown sugar (ブラウンシュガー)
1tsp vanilla extract (バニラエッセンス)
1tsp almond extract (アーモンドエッセンス)
1tsp cinnamon (シナモン)
※tsp=小さじ
>フランスパンを2cmに切って、20x20cmガラスの型に入れ、溶けたバターを注ぎます。
>そして、他の材料をボウル入れてよく混ぜます。型に注ぎ、パンを湿らせます。全体に行き渡るようにしてください。
>180°Cで45分間焼きます。
>Cut day old baguette into 2×2cm pieces and put in a 20×20 glass pan. Drizzle melted butter on top.
>In a bowl mix the remaining ingredients and pour over the bread. Coat everything.
>Bake at 180°C for 45 minutes.
